Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:
- The Dallas Farmers Market will be hosting Texas Pumpkin Day, today. The event will be at The Shed from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The market will be hosting kid-friendly crafts and activities throughout the day. The Choo Choo Train Express will operate between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. (WFAA.com)
- Advocates are working to save the White Rock Cemetery Garden of Memories in North Dallas. The three-acre cemetery is the resting site of prominent members of the early Freedmen's settlements in Dallas County. The organization Remembering Black Dallas Inc. is seeking a historical designation from the Dallas Landmark Commission to guarantee that the cemetery will be spared from encroaching development. - A Dallas County jury has convicted accused serial killer Billy Chemirmir with his second capital murder conviction. The jury determined that Chemirmir is responsible for the killing of Mary Brooks, 87. He has been indicted for the killings of 22 women in Dallas and Collin counties.
