• Denton Police Chief Jessica Robledo to retire in February, city announces (keranews.org) — Denton’s police chief, Jessica Robledo, will retire Feb. 27, with her last day in office set for Jan. 9 as the city prepares to name an acting chief next week. Robledo, the department’s first female chief, cited a recent family death and a desire to spend more time with loved ones, while city leaders praised her leadership and reforms.
   

• Part of Hwy 114 considered one of most congested roadways in Texas by TxDOT - Cross Timbers Gazette Southern Denton County Flower Mound (crosstimbersgazette.com) — Drivers in southern Denton County are seeing a nearby stretch of Highway 114, from I-35W toward Westlake and Trophy Club, ranked among Texas’ 100 most congested roadways. TxDOT data shows delays, wasted fuel, and ongoing construction are driving the problem, even as statewide congestion has slightly improved. Local towns like Northlake are trying to support businesses hurt by the traffic.
   

• Highland Village Council OKs modest water rate hike; parks fees updated - Cross Timbers Gazette Southern Denton County Flower Mound (crosstimbersgazette.com) — Highland Village residents will soon pay about $2.50 to $3.50 more per month on utility bills as the city passes through higher wholesale water and wastewater costs. Council also updated parks and recreation fees, discussed its role with the Denton County Transportation Authority, and reminded residents of shifted Christmas and New Year’s trash pickup days.
