19-Year-Old Dead, 18-Year-Old Arrested Following Shooting

Police are asking for the public's help after a 19-year-old died following a shooting last week.

AUSTIN, TX – Police are asking for the public's help after a 19-year-old died following a shooting last week.

On Thursday, Austin police received a report that someone had been. shot at the Goodnight Commons Apartments in the 2000 block of E. Slaughter Lane. When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the floor.

Eshmell Mendez, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Travis County Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death was homicide by gunshot.

Jeremiah Crayton, 18, was arrested and bond was set at $250,000. He is accused of shooting Mendez while Mendez was visiting friends at the apartments.

Police are asking anyone with information to call APD Homicide at 512-974-TIPS.
