4 Seriously Hurt In Car Crash Along SH 7: Austin EMS

The worst injuries were described as critical and life-threatening by medics who earlier warned of hazardous driving conditions after rain.

AUSTIN, TX — Four people were seriously injured in a car wreck along West SH 71 on Friday, emergency officials said.

The incident occurred between the 23500 and 24215 blocks of SH 71 around noon, Austin-Travis County EMS officials wrote on Twitter at around 12:15 p.m. The worst injuries were described as critical and life-threatening by medics. All told, four ambulances were dispatched to the scene, officials noted.

One of the crash victims was pinned to the vehicle, with the others sustaining serious and potentially serious injuries, medics wrote. The crash victims were transported to St. David's South hospital for treatment of their injuries.

While it's unclear what may have caused the wreck, medics earlier alerted drivers of hazardous road conditions left in the wake of storms that formed overnight. No further details were disclosed.
