47 Austin Area Aspiring Medical Professionals Get Scholarships
St. David's Neal Kocurek Scholarship Program awards bestowed to high school students in Austin, Leander, Pflugerville and Manor.

AUSTIN, TX — In a move to bolster the pipeline for a strong health care workforce — an increasingly critical cog amid a global pandemic — the St. David's Foundation has awarded scholarships to 47 aspiring medical professionals from throughout the Austin area.
Future medical professionals attending his schools in Travis, Williamson and Hays counties were bestowed the scholarships through the foundation's St. David’s Neal Kocurek Scholarship Program, officials wrote in an advisory. The recipients attend the following high schools:
- Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders (Austin).
- Austin High School.
- Anderson High School (Austin).
- Connally (Austin).
- Harmony Science Academy (Pflugerville).
- Harmony School of Endeavor (Austin).
- Hendrickson High School (Pflugerville).
- James Bowie (Austin).
- Liberal Arts & Science Academy (Austin).
- Manor High School.
- McCallum High School (Austin).
- McNeil High School (Austin)
- Pflugerville High School.
- Vandegrift High School (Leander).
- Weiss High School (Pflugerville).
"The year’s scholarship recipients represent a diverse group of students with truly unique life experiences," officials wrote. "Scholars range from first-generation Americans and legacy scholar recipients to medical technicians and young adults balancing both work and school.

As one of the largest health scholarships in the country, officials explained, the program provides financial support for students pursuing health care careers and has empowered more than 600 hundred graduates from Central Texas high schools to take the next step toward their dream of a career in health care.

About St. David’s Neal Kocurek Scholarship Fund
As one of the largest scholarship programs in Texas, the St. David’s Neal Kocurek Scholarship is focused on investing in the education of Central Texas youth by providing resources to high school seniors within Travis, Hays, Williamson, Bastrop or Caldwell counties pursuing health care careers and attending a university or college in the state of Texas. The scholarship program was created to foster a pipeline for Texas’ health care network across a variety of specialties and has empowered hundreds of graduates from Central Texas high schools to pursue their aspirations of a career in health care. Since the scholarship’s inception in 2005, more than 600 Central Texas students have received scholarships to pursue health-related careers, many of whom have brought their skills and expertise back to Central Texas.
