Aggravated Sexual Assault Suspect Sought By Austin Police
A woman was walking along East 7th Street early Monday when she was sexually assaulted by an unidentified man now sought by police.
AUSTIN, TX — The Austin Police Department on Wednesday sought help from the public in identifying a suspect in an aggravated sexual assault case this week in downtown Austin.
The incident on Monday along a south alley along the 1600 block of East 7th Street is esimated to have occurred between 5 a.m. and 5:20 a.m., police wrote in an advisory. A preliminary police investigation showed that the victim was walking in the street along East 7th Street when the suspect approached the victim on foot before physically attacking her.
Police said the suspect then sexually assaulted the victim before fleeing on foot.

The identity of the suspect is unknown, but police offered a physical description. He is described as:
- Possibly Hispanic/medium skin tone;
- approximately 25-35 years of age;
- estimated height between five feet, six inches and five feet, ten inches;
- short black hair;
- possibly with a beard or black surgical mask;
- approximately 160-180 pounds (thin build with “pudgy” stomach);
- last seen wearing jeans with visible gray boxer shorts, a black t-shirt, dark colored belt, and dark colored shoes.
The Austin Police Department released surveillance camera images in the hopes someone might recognize the suspect and alert police as to his whereabouts and/or identity (see above). Police also released surveillance camera footage showing the suspect:
