Altercation In South Austin Leaves Man Dead
The incident along the 6600 block of Janes Ranch Road just before 3 p.m. started as an argument before it culminated in a fatal shooting.
AUSTIN, TX — The Austin Police Department said they were investigating a "suspicious death," that occurred in South Austin on Wednesday.
The incident occurred along the 6600 block of Janes Ranch Road just before 3 p.m., police said in a news advisory. Upon arrival, an officer said in a subsequent news conference, police found a dead man at the scene. Apparently, police said, two men got into an altercation before the fatal shooting occurred, an officer said at a news conference. The two men involved knew each other, the officer said.
The officer at the news conference said witnesses were being interviewed, and they would be at the scene for several hours.

Given the early nature of the investigation, police had few details to share as to not compromise the integrity of their probe.
