Another Rock-Throwing Incident on I-35
The have been 12 reported cases of rock-throwing incidents this year.

A passenger in a vehicle traveling northbound on I-35 is still recovering from injuries after someone threw a rock in the car, one of a string of rock-throwing incidents in downtown, according to Austin police.
Around 2:45 a.m. on Oct. 10, the vehicle was traveling through the 2200 block of I-35 when someone threw a rock into the vehicle, hitting the passenger in the shoulder. Glass fragments then hit the driver’s face.
There have already been 12 reported cases of rock-throwing incidents this year. In one of the most recognized cases, Austin musician Kenneth Jones suffered extreme injuries when someone threw a rock at his SUV. His car was left mangled, and Jones is just now beginning to be able to tap his fingers to music played at a benefit concert to pay for his injuries.

“We are fortunate that none of these incidents have resulted in death but several people have been hurt or injured,” Austin Police Department Senior Police Officer Veneza Bremner told Patch.com
To help them fight crime, Austin police are looking at adding more halo cameras, which are a pricey investment.The city currently, has 41 HALO cameras in downtown and along Rundberg Lane in north Austin but not along I-35. According to Austin police, it gives police a bird’s-eye view of everything going on and can help them find suspects if a crime is committed. When city council last approved money for more cameras, the price tag was about $75,000 to install. The network network of 41 cameras costs $44,000 a year to maintain.

Austin police have asked people not to wait until arriving at their destination to contact police. Call 911 immediately so officers can respond, and do not handle any evidence so it can be processed by APD.
