Arrest Made In Connection To Fatal West Austin Shooting

WEST AUSTIN, TX — An arrest has been made in connection to a fatal shooting in West Austin over the weekend, police said on Monday.
The incident occurred on Sunday just before 7:30 a.m. at an apartment complex on 1781 Spyglass Dr., according to a police advisory. Upon arrival, police found Alex Arce, 25, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving measures by medics, police said, Hardison was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:45 a.m.
Police interviewed Jason Hardison, 38, who was at the scene, learning he had been involved in an altercation with Arce as the two men struggled over a gun. Hardison told police the weapon went off during the struggle, and Arce was struck by gunfire.

Subsequently, police said Hardison was arrested before being booked into the Travis County Jail under a charge of manslaughter. His bond was set at $20,000, according to police.
