Austin-Based P. Terry's Offers Workers Paid Time Off To Go Vote

AUSTIN, TX — The folks at Austin-based P. Terry’s Burger Stand understand the importance of voting, knowing there are no ifs, ands or buns about it. To that end, the restaurant chain this weekend announced a company-wide initiative urging workers to vote while still collecting their regular pay while at the voting site.

To encourage voting while minimizing the stress often accompanying the activity, officials said in an advisory, P. Terry's is paying each registered employee one hour of their current rate during the early voting period Oct. 13-30. This will enable employees to vote while "on the clock" if necessary, officials explained.

In addition, the company is helping coordinate rides to poll locations, and providing information about polling places, dates, times, and FAQ’s regarding all candidates, officials said.

Moreover, P. Terry’s Burger Stand’s Westlake location at 701 S. Capital of Texas Highway, will be an approved polling location on Election Day, Nov. 3, officials noted. This will help alleviate the concerns of social distancing during an unprecedented pandemic, according to company officials.

The restaurant chain operates more than a dozen sites in the Austin area.
