Austin Community College District Events Oct. 26-Nov. 1, 2020
Much activity has been stilled across the landscape, yet the college district remains a hub of academic endeavor evidenced by its schedule.
AUSTIN, TX — The Austin Community College District has long been a hub of academic activity covering the breadth of student endeavor. While the coronavirus pandemic has stilled many enterprises, the district remains a hotbed of events furthering its scholarly ideals.
To that end, key events are planned from Oct. 26 to Nov. 1:
- Registration now open for spring courses: Registration for spring classes is now open for current students. Students are encouraged to register early because classes fill fast. The spring semester begins Tuesday, Jan. 19. The college offers more than 100 programs from associate degrees to university transfer and certificate options. Additional 1-on-1 and support services are available to support students through the process. For more information and to register, visit austincc.edu/spring.
- On-campus computer and study areas reopening: Reservations are now open for ACC students to access computers, reliable internet, and study areas at select campuses. Starting Monday, Oct. 26, students may reserve a two-hour appointment slot at the Highland and Round Rock campus ACCelerators and library space at Hays Campus. To ensure health and safety measures, spaces will remain at 25 percent operating capacity and all students must follow the college’s health and safety protocols and procedures. - Save thousands on college credit while still in high school: Sign-up now for a virtual information session on High School Programs, 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 29. Students and parents will learn about dual-credit, Early College High School, and P-Tech offered at little to no cost. High School Programs provide the college experience and prepare students for what the college environment is like. ACC’s High School Programs have almost doubled from 4,500 to 8,500 students in recent years. For more information, visit austincc.edu/highschool.
- Final week of registration for ATX+Egypt Entrepreneurship Program: Applications for the first international exchange program for fashion designers in Austin and Egypt are due by Sunday, Nov. 1. The program is offered in partnership with the ACC Fashion Incubator, City of Austin Economic Development Department, and United States (U.S.) Embassy in Cairo, Egypt. It prepares students for fashion management and entrepreneurship through domestic and global growth opportunities.
- ACC launches first Esports program for students: ACC’s Intramural Sports and Recreation launches first Esports league for students beginning Monday, Oct. 26. The program is designed to create opportunities for students to stay engaged with one another during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants compete in a round-robin season of online gaming in Madden 20, NBA2K, Rocket League, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. More than two dozen students have registered.
