Austin Community College Schedules Events Sept. 21-27, 2020

From class enrollment to live tutoring sessions to celebrating Hispanic heritage, a bevy of events is slated from Sept. 21-27.

AUSTIN, TX — The Austin Community College District has multiple events scheduled through month's end.

Key events are set from Sept. 21-27. Events include:

  • There’s Still Time to Take Classes this Fall: ACC’s short semester options continue to enroll for fall courses. Prospective students can enroll in the second 8-week sessions this week. Classes begin October 19. For more information, visit austincc.edu/shortsemester..
  • Free, Live Tutoring Sessions: To support students through the semester, ACC offers free, virtual tutoring for all students. This fall, the college also offers special, live sessions. For more information, visit austincc.edu/tutoring.
  • Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations: ACC hosts events throughout the month to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month. On Wednesday, the college’s Student Life organization sponsors a special Latinx Student Forum. The conversations will examine:
    • Issues that pertain to the Latinx Community at ACC
    • Solutions or potential initiatives to approach the various issues raised
    • Resources within & outside of ACC to explore for support
    • Information on the upcoming student organization, Latinx Student Union, that hopes to gain officer interest and general member interest from those in attendance.
  • Keeping learning going at ACC: ACC’s Sustainable Agriculture program will start preparing and distributing Horticulture kits for students for online learning. The kits will allow students to own propagation while at home. Kits will be created and distributed on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at ACC Elgin Campus.
  • Career Support for Today’s Jobs: More than ever, finding a job requires time, skills, and the support of a team. ACC’s Career Services team hosts a series of career support webinars to help those seeking employment gain the skills they need. This week, a free, 4-week long class begins to provide comprehensive, job search training to increase employment outcomes in our digital era. Register at austincc.edu/strategies.
