Austin Community College Schedules Myriad Events

Despite the halting effect coronavirus has had on much activity, the college district is a hotbed of happenings important to students.

AUSTIN, TX — Much activity has been stilled amid the coronavirus, but the Austin Community College District continues to be a hotbed of events and happenings.

The college district has much planned Oct. 12-18. Events include:

  • More classes added after big response to deep discounts for fast-track: Four weeks into Austin Community College’s 50-percent tuition discount program, the college adds more course options for its Continuing Education Welding and HVAC programs. Both programs reached capacity in the first month of launching the discount which runs through Dec. 15. The program extends deep discounts for 12 of the most high-demand fast-track training programs offered through the CE Division. Some courses can be completed in less than three months, including administrative assistant and certified production technician.   • Get a jump start on your educational goals with 8-week courses: Did you know current students can still sign up for fall classes? Austin Community College offers a unique opportunity in Central Texas with short semester options. The second round of eight-week classes begins October 19.   • Austin Community College goes 1-on-1 to help students with financial aid: The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application period is now underway. Austin Community College students receive more than $70 million every year in financial support. The college hosts a series of financial aid workshops from Oct. 12-20 to help students and their families explore their options and complete applications.   • The best way to support the community is to support students: Austin Community College continues to offer full support services to students virtually, to keep them on track. Academic support includes academic coaching, career services, and tutoring. Personal support resources are available to provide students with direct counseling services.
