Austin Police Seek Aggravated Robbery Suspect
An armed suspect took a man's wallet at a North Austin apartments complex after firing a shot before fleeing the scene.
AUSTIN, TX — Police seek help from the public in identifying an aggravated robbery suspect, officials said Thursday.
The incident dates to Sunday, July 19, just before 8:30 p.m. at an apartments complex on 701 W. Longspur Dr. Police said the victim was walking home when the suspect approached him from behind before attempting to take his wallet, police said in an advisory. During an ensuing struggle, police said, the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired one shot. The suspect then rummaged through the victim's pockets, stole the victim's wallet and fled in a silver Chevrolet four-door vehicle.
The suspect is described as a Black male standing at five feet, seven inches tall of thin build weighing 170 pounds and between the ages of 25-28. He was wearing a black t-shirt and mustard-colored shorts at the time of the incident. His vehicle is described a Silver Chevy four-door vehicle with damage to the front driver's side door. The car is either a Chevy Impala or Chevy Malibu. Police released surveillance camera images of the suspect and vehicle.
