Austin Resident Appointed To Texas Crime Stoppers Council
Lauren Day, founder and president of marketing consulting firm GoodBuzz Solutions, was reappointed by Gov. Greg Abbott.
AUSTIN, TX — Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday confirmed three appointments to the Texas Crime Stoppers Council, including a local business woman who runs a marketing consulting firm.
The three named to the council are:
- Lauren Day of Austin, founder and president of marketing consulting firm GoodBuzz Solutions, was reappointed to the council, according to an advisory. She is a member of Women Communicators of Austin, Hill Country Bible Church Steiner Ranch, and the Board for the Esther Council. Day earned a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from Abilene Christian University and a Master of Arts in International Relations and a Master of Science in Public Relations from Syracuse University.
- Also reappointed to the council was Greg New of Waxahachie, a peace officer for the City of Grand Prairie with nearly 32 years of law enforcement experience. New also is a certified mental health peace officer, and is currently assigned to the Crisis Support Unit. He has served Crime Stoppers for over 20 years as Coordinator of the local program and serves as Chair of the Texas Crime Stoppers Council. He is a member of the Texas Municipal Police Association and Chisholm Trail Crime Prevention Association, past vice president of the Grand Prairie Police Association, and past president of the Midlothian Youth Baseball Association. New graduated from the Kissimmee Florida Police Academy and the North Central Council of Government Police Academy, where he received his Master Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
- Stephanie Vanskike of Beaumont is a new appointee. She is the executive cirector of Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas. Vanskike is a member of the Press Club of Southeast Texas, The Symphony League of Beaumont and other volunteer organizations in her area. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University.
Terms for the appointees are set to expire on Sept. 1, 2024. The council advises the governor on crime stoppers programs in Texas and certifies local crime stoppers programs in order for them to receive payments of rewards or payments of probation fees established by the Code of Criminal Procedure.
