Austin Weather: Showers, Thunderstorms Possible

There's a 50 percent chance of rain during the day on Friday and Saturday and a 20 percent chance of rain Friday night.

AUSTIN, TX — Rain is in Austin's post-Thanksgiving weather forecast with government forecasters calling for a 50 percent chance of rain Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms are possible after 9 a.m. and areas of fog are expected to persist prior to that.

The chance for rain drops to 20 percent Friday night.

Other than that, Friday's forecast calls for cloudy skies with a high of 76 degrees and a low of 68 degrees.

Another chance of rain is possible on Saturday with a 50 percent possibility of showers or thunderstorms before noon.

Today: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 9am. Areas of fog before 9am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 76. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 68. South wind 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before noon. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 79. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 47. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 64. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday Night: Clear, with a low around 41. North northwest wind around 5 mph.
