Car Impounded After Travis County Sheriff's Deputy Struck
Police found a Lexus believed to have been the vehicle that hit a deputy who was directing traffic in a school zone on Tuesday.
TRAVIS COUNTY, TX — The Travis County Sheriff’s Office has impounded a vehicle detectives believe struck a deputy in a hit-and-run collision this week, officials revealed on Friday.
The vehicle, a Lexus ES 350, is thought to be the car that hit a deputy who was working traffic on Tuesday, was recovered from the parking garage of an apartment complex near U.S. 183 and Pond Springs Road, a Travis County Sheriff's Office spokesperson wrote in an advisory.
The investigation has revealed a potential suspect and detectives are diligently pursuing evidence connecting him to the incident, the spokesperson added.

The injured deputy was one of three officers conducting traffic enforcement in a school zone on McNeil Drive, according to the sheriff's office. The vehicle hit the deputy as he stepped into an empty lane of travel and signaled a vehicle traveling in the other lane to stop, according to the spokesperson.

Austin-Travis County EMS medics transported the deputy to a local hospital, from which he was treated and released the same day. Those with information about the incident are urged to call the sheriff office tip line at (512) 854-1444.
