Driver Killed After Colliding With Parked Fire Truck In Austin

The incident along the 12600 North Interstate 35 left a woman dead after crashing into a fire truck at the scene of another accident.

AUSTIN, TX — A driver was killed after colliding with a parked fire truck earlier this month, police revealed on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Oct. 17 just after 2:15 a.m. along the 12600 North Interstate 35, according to a police advisory. A preliminary police investigation shows that a gray, 2015 Dodge Dart was traveling southbound in the outside lane when it collided with a City of Pflugerville fire truck that had its emergency lights activated while on scene assisting with another crash, police wrote in an advisory.

The driver, 35-year-old India McKinley, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The incident marked Austin’s 69th fatal traffic crash of 2020, police said, resulting in 74 fatalities this year. At this time in 2019, police added, there were 67 traffic fatalities.
