AUSTIN, TX — As Austin schools begin in-person learning on Monday, electric vehicle company Revel and its new program for Austin teachers and school staff began offering free rides for 30 days for school staff as they head back to the classroom, officials announced.

Starting today, all Austin school staff will have increased access to their community with this socially distanced transportation option, which is especially important as school returns. The initiative is part of Revel’s ongoing commitment to providing essential workers with a reliable transportation alternative, officials explained.

"As the son of an NYC special ed teacher, I've seen firsthand the impact that educators and school staff have on their communities," Revel CEO and co-founder Frank Reig said in a prepared statement. "Now, as they head back for a very different kind of school year, we're providing free Revel rides in hopes of making their commutes a little easier, and as our way of saying thank you."
