Flood Advisory Issued For Travis, Williamson Counties
Heavy rain resulting from thunderstorms prompts the National Weather Service to issue the advisory in effect until 11:45 a.m. Friday.

AUSTIN, TX — The National Weather Service has issued an area flood advisory for Travis and Williamson counties in effect until late Friday morning.
The advisory is set to expire at 11:45 a.m., forecasters said. The advisory was prompted by Doppler radar readings indicating heavy rain resulting from thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing in the advisory area, with one to two inches of rain already fallen on the area, according to the National Weather Service.
Among the locations that will experience flooding are Austin; Cedar Park; Georgetown; Leander; Round Rock; Pflugerville; Taylor; Elgin; Windemere; Anderson Mill; Serenada; Hutto; Manor; Coupland; Georgetown Dam; Rices Crossing; Wells Branch; Brushy Creek; Jollyville; and Beyarsville.

"A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent," weather officials wrote as part of the advisory.
Concurrently, the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the South-Central Texas region. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected today into the evening, weather officials said, with locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds possible with the strongest storms.

Covered under the hazardous weather outlook are Travis and Williamson counties along with Llano; Burnet; Val Verde; Edwards; Real; Kerr; Bandera; Gillespie; Kendall; Blanco; Hays; Bastrop; Lee; Kinney; Uvalde; Medina; Bexar; Comal; Guadalupe; Caldwell; Fayette; Maverick; Zavala; Frio; Atascosa; Wilson; Karnes; Gonzales; De Witt; Lavaca; and Dimmit.
Motorists are urged to visit ATXfloods.com for a list of low-water crossings closed amid flooding. At last check, more than two dozen such crossings already had been closed.
