'Friday Night Lights' Author To Speak in Austin This Weekend
Buzz Bissinger will appear at Book People in downtown Austin.

Football season is in full gear. What better way to immerse yourself in the Friday night lights than a chance to hear from the man who helped define Texas football?
Buzz Bissinger, the author of the widely-acclaimed novel “Friday Night Lights,” will appear at Book People in downtown Austin on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The event marks the 25th anniversary of the book. It was published in 1990.

His book documented the 1988 season of the football team of Permian High School in Odessa, Texas. It was made into a movie, starring Sandra Bullock, and a TV series.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Buzz Bissinger to talk about his timeless account of the Permian Panthers of Odessa–the winningest high school football team in Texas history,” Book People said on its website.

Bissinger is also the author of the Vanity Fair cover story on Caitlyn Jenner.
