Interstate 35 Lanes To Close This Weekend

Northbound I-35 main lanes from south of Slaughter Lane to SH 71/US 290 will be reduced to one lane to accommodate paving work Oct. 9-10

AUSTIN, TX — Northbound lanes of Interstate 35 will be closed this weekend to accommodate road construction crews, transportation officials said Thursday.

The closures are needed to allow for road paving as part of the I-35 from Stassney Lane to William Cannon Drive, officials at the Texas Department of Transportation said in an advisory. Starting at 9 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday nights (Oct. 9-10), the northbound I-35 main lanes from south of Slaughter Lane to SH 71/US 290 will be reduced to one lane. Moreover, at 11 p.m. each night, the northbound I-35 mainlanes will fully close.

Traffic will detour to the frontage road via the William Cannon Drive exit (#228) and will re-enter the I-35 main lanes at the entrance ramp north of Stassney Lane, officials explained. All lanes will reopen to traffic as work is completed, but no later than 9 a.m. on Saturday morning and 10 a.m. on Sunday morning, officials added.
