Man Killed In East Austin Shooting

The unidentified victim found suffering from gunshot wounds on Saturday evening died shortly after being admitted into a hospital.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — A man died after being shot in East Austin on Saturday evening, police said.

The incident occurred just after 7:30 p.m. along the 5700 block of Manor Road, according to officer Michael Bullock, who spoke to reporters in an overnight news conference. The police spokesman said that officers found a male victim in a parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving measures, the man died after being admitted into an area hospital, Bullock said.

Little is known about the incident, the officer conceded. A description of the suspect is unknown, as is what may have led to the fatal shooting. As of Sunday, no one was in custody in the aftermath of the shooting, Bullock added. The relationship between the suspect and victim also is unknown, the officer noted.

The police spokesman assured the incident appears to be an isolated incident — term used to suggest such acts of violence were limited to the parties involved rather than representing a threat to the public.
