Neighborhood Nonprofit Spotlight: Austin Chamber Music Center

Patch talks to the Austin Chamber Music Center about how it keeps the music alive in the Austin area on a local level.

Patch: Tell Patch a little about your organization!

ACMC: Austin Chamber Music Center's mission is to expand knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of chamber music through the highest quality instruction and performance. During the school year we have regular chamber coaching at our Academy in addition to free in-school coaching and concerts, as well as a national chamber music competition. Our professional public concert programs have tiered ticket prices to remain affordable, and include several free outreach concerts. In July each summer, we offer both a chamber music workshop and a music festival, bringing in locally- and internationally-renowned talent.

ACMC: We use Austin-area musicians to perform concerts for a wide variety of people, including students and areas of the community that would normally not have access to chamber music. We also employ local music instructors who offer chamber music coaching to students of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, including free coaching for select AISD schools.

Patch: What is the biggest struggle your organization faces?

ACMC: We would like to be able to reach out to even more members of the community to offer affordable performances and instruction to those who could otherwise not join the local classical music community.
