Neighborhood Nonprofit Spotlight: Rob Faubion, AGE of Central Texas

Patch talks to Rob Faubion about his work with Age of Central Texas.

Patch: Tell Patch a little about you and your organization!

Rob: AGE of Central Texas tackles the challenges of aging with expert solutions, to make aging a shared journey of strength and compassion for both the older adult and the family caregiver. AGE provides not only direct services and programs for older adults, but also resources, education, and support for family caregivers. Most recently, we partnered with the Housing Authority of the City of Austin to provide transportation options for senior adults living at 7 of the City's low-income housing communities.

Patch: What is the biggest struggle your organization faces?

Rob: As the region grows, and more residents move to the area, many do not know where to turn for support services -- especially caregivers who are suddenly faced with the task of caring for an older loved one. Letting caregivers know that our services are available to them is one of our biggest challenges, to reach them when they are most in need of support.

Patch: What do you hope for the future of your nonprofit?

Rob: AGE will continue to grow and adapt to the needs of the community, and we will increase programming and services to the surrounding counties during the next few years. We are already planning forward, toward our next 30 years of service to the community!
