Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car In North Austin
The incident dates to Sept. 15 just before 9 a.m. at the intersection of Ferguson Lane and Cameron Road.
NORTH AUSTIN, TX — A pedestrian killed after being ftally struck by a vehicle in North Austin earlier this month was identified by police on Thursday.
The incident dates to Sept. 15 just before 9 a.m. at the intersection of Ferguson Lane and Cameron Road, police wrote in an advisory. Police learned a 2015 Ford F-550 was traveling west on Ferguson Lane when the driver attempted to turn northbound on Cameron Road while at a red light. Meanwhile, a pedestrian was walking southbound on the east sidewalk of Cameron Road while attempting to cross Ferguson Lane in the crosswalk, police added.
The F-550 failed to yield right of way and struck her, according to the police advisory. The woman who was struck was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased at 9:37 a.m., police said.

According to police, the driver of the F-550 remained on scene and cooperated with an investigation. A citation for fail to yield right of way was issued, police said.
The woman who was killed was identified as Martina Venacio-Cabrera, 39.

The incident marked Austin’s 61st fatal traffic crash of 2020, police said, resulting in 66 fatalities this year. At this time in 2019, police added, there were 61 traffic fatalities.
