AUSTIN, TX — Police on Tuesday identified a pedestrian who was fatally struck by a car while attempting to cross an East Austin street earlier this month.
The Oct. 18 incident occurred along the 1100 block of Airport Boulevard at 8 p.m., according to a police advisory. A police investigation showed that a white, 2015 Dodge 350 was traveling southbound when a pedestrian tried to cross the street mid block, police said. The man was struck while walking toward the west curb line, police said, before being pronounced dead at the scene.
The pedestrian was identified as Raymond Cipple, 54, according to police. Police noted the driver of the truck remained at the scene to cooperate in an investigation, and impairment does not appear to have been a contributing factor.
