Salvage Vanguard Theater Loses Lease

The East Austin veteran theater will vacate its 6,000-square-foot converted warehouse on Manor Road, artistic director Jenny Larson announced today.

Larson told Austin360 that the theater’s lease will expire June 30, 2016, and a new landlord has not offered the building a chance to renew.

The indie theater group have been at Manor Road since 2006. The building has a 99-seat theater and and 49-seat theater with a scene shop, workshop space, and office space.

SVT has served as a home to several art productions, and was also a regular performance venue for several companies, including the Trouble Theater Company and KDH Dance Company.

Larson told the paper that Fairway Properties now owns the location. Larson also said that SVT does not have any definite plans for any relocation at this time.
