AUSTIN, TX — A South Austin domestic disturbance on Wednesday left one dead and another injured, police said on Thursday.

The incident occurred along the 6600 block of Jane's Ranch Road just past 2:45 p.m. According to a police advisory, 9-1-1 received multiple calls alerting to shots being fired outside a home — including one caller who told police he had shot someone who had attacked him.

Upon arrival, officers located the male resident with a gunshot wound and a second male with less-severe trauma. Despite life-saving efforts by Austin-Travis County EMS medics, the resident suffering from gunshot wounds was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not identify him pending notification of next of kin. The second shooting victim was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment, police added.
