All-Clear Given In East Austin After Suspicious Package Reports
Emergency crews were dispatched to the 1000 block of East 5th St. just before noon before the area was deemed safe for residents.
AUSTIN, TX — An explosives ordnance disposal team was in East Austin late morning in response to reports of a suspicious package before the all-clear was given Monday afternoon.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the 1000 block of East 5th St., police wrote in a tweet sent out just before 2 p.m. Officials added a reverse 9-1-1 notification to residents was sent after the call reporting the suspicious package first came in at 11:15 a.m.
Police had urged residents to avoid the area while they investigating, later reporting no threat was found.

APD's Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) is responding to a suspicious package in the 1000 block of E. 5th Street. The call came in at 11:51 a.m. Case #20-3000593. A reverse 911 has been initiated. Avoid the area if possible.

Police did not describe the package in question. However, they said the area was safe for residents.
