Swimmer Drowns At Lake Travis In Leander

AUSTIN, TX — An adult swimmer drowned at Lake Travis on Saturday afternoon, medics said.
Austin-Travis County EMS medics were dispatched to Lake Travis on Saturday afternoon amid reports of a swimmer who went under and failed to resurface. Austin-Travis County EMS was called just before 5:35 p.m. to assist in a rescue at 16120 Wharf Cove, medics wrote on Twitter.
Some 25 minutes later, medics reported rescue efforts had transitioned to recovery mode — the dreaded nomenclature of emergency personnel describing efforts involving recovery of a body rather than the rescue of a person in distress but alive.

Medics did not disclose the approximate age and gender of the drowning victim as it their custom. No further details were released.
