Texas Teen Charged After 4-Month-Old Shot To Death: Police

A 14-year-old in Lubbock is facing manslaughter charges after an infant was killed in a shooting incident Tuesday.

LUBBOCK, TX — A 14-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday and charged with manslaughter during an investigation into a shooting that killed an infant, according to Lubbock police.

The four-month-old shooting victim, identified as Jaquari Jones, was brought to University Medical Center following the incident Tuesday afternoon, triggering an investigation. Jones was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

A group of minors were at a home on the 3600 block of Lehigh Street in north Lubbock when the gun was discharged, striking Jones, according to police. Authorities declined to specify to Patch the manner in which the gun was discharged.

The teen, who is not being identified, was taken to Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
