There's Pilates and a 5K at the Pecan Street Festival This Year

The downtown Austin street festival has added some healthy fun for this fall's festival.

The Pecan Street Festival has added two healthy activities this year, in addition to the music, arts and revelry.

At the start of both days of the festival, on Sept. 26 and 27, there will be a free “POP Pilates” class with instructor Christine McCown. It will take place at 11 a.m. on the Trinity Stage. Organizers say it’s appropriate for all ages and levels.

Also on both days, starting at 10 a.m., there will be the “Pecan Street 5K.” It’s not just a run, though. It’s educational too. The 5K will “explore Pecan Street’s rich cultural history at a slow-jog’s pace.” It’s sponsored by City Running Tours, starts at the Red River Stage and costs $20.
