UT Students Can Now Study at the Main Library 24-Hours a Day, 5 Days a Week
The campus library extends its hours beyond just midterms and finals.
University of Texas at Austin students now have another place to study until the wee hours.
The University of Texas at Austin’s main central library, the Perry-Castaneda Library, is now open 24-hours a day, five days a week. The library used to extend its hours during midterms and finals, but because of popular demand by students, its doors will stay open later year-round.
The Flawn Academic Center extended its hours to 24-hours a day, five days a week in January.

“The reaction from the students to the new FAC extended hours was very positive, and we are seeing the same positivity towards the new PCL extended hours,” Lorraine Haricombe, UT’s new vice provost and director of directory of libraries, told The Daily Texan. It only follows that as students become more acclimated to using libraries, and libraries become a more collaborative area where they can study, that they’re going to want longer hours.”
