HOUSTON — What’s happening in your community this weekend? You may not have noticed lately, especially with all the rain, but it’s the start of the festival season in communities all over Texas.
This weekend will feature several festivals, concerts and events in the Houston area that are worth taking in and enjoying with your family.

Pasadena Strawberry Festival| Friday-Sunday| Listen to the music and belly up for some of the best barbecue in Texas, and maybe a slice of the world’s largest strawberry shortcake. The fun kicks of Friday at the Pasadena Fairgrounds. Tickets are $12 general admission, and kids and seniors 65 and over are just $6.

Galveston Island Beach Revue| Friday and Saturday| What began as a kick off to the summer season in 1920 Galveston has become a two-day family event nearly 100 years later. The Galveston Island Beach Revue is still a great kick off to the summer beach season. The events begin Friday and Saturday culminating in the Bathing Beauties Contest. The contest itself has become a must-see event as locals and tourists of all ages swarm the beach and seawall for a glimpse at the vintage swimsuits, parasols, and of course the “world famous” Bathing Beauties themselves.
Hire Houston Youth Job and Resources Fair| Lone Star College-Victory Center| Saturday| If you’re young and need a summer job, stop by between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday and get hired on the spot.
Flea By Night| Discovery Green| Saturday| Treasure hunt for vintage, handmade, recycled, repurposed and renewed goods, plus enjoy live music and food trucks.
Taste of the Groves Food Truck Festival| Humble| Saturday| Residents and the public are invited to kick off the summer and experience life in the nature-hood and experience what the Lifestyle Program has to offer at The Groves.This family-friendly event will include food trucks, bites, and beverages from local restaurants and breweries, music, a tiny tot area for the little ones, a bounce house, an obstacle course, and more.
Bike The Woodlands| Saturday| Northshore Park| Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon, family-friendly event will include exhibits from local bike shops, bicycle clubs and other supporters of National Bike Month.
ZZ Top’s 50thn Anniversary Bash| Saturday| ZZ Top will take the stage with fellow rock legends Bad Company and special guest Cheap Trick during their Texas Bash performances in the Lone Star State.
