Don't Be Bored: Fun Things Happening In Houston This Weekend

There's plenty of things going on in Houston, and many of the nearby communities all weekend.

HOUSTON, TX — There’s never a shortage of things to do in the Houston area. In fact, there are choices galore, from concerts and stand-up comedy shows to movies and museums.
You can even find a few festivals and food truck events in parks all over the Greater Houston area.
The best part is that many of these are free, if not downright cheap. Here are a few happening this weekend:

Houston Rockets at Cleveland Cavaliers at the Toyota Center| Friday| Come on out and support the Rockets as the hope to continue their win streak this weekend. Second Saturday Settlers at Jesse Jones Park| Saturday, Jan. 12 from 1- 3 p.m.
In this family-friendly event, volunteers and staff bring the heat to Jones Park’s historic Redbud Hill Homestead. As the chilled January air swirls, guests are invited to gather around a crackling fire as re-enactors demonstrate 19th century cast iron cooking techniques and share some tasty bites.

Tomball Farmer’s Market| Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.| Free| It’s run by farmers, local artisans, and craftsmen. It’s free and it’s fun. Lots of samples from area vendors, and it happens rain or shine.

Pawsitive Pups at Levy Park| Sunday 1-2 p.m.| Free| Bring the kids and Fido can help them stay on track with reading through this pawsitively special program offered through the Houston Public Library
