1. Alley Theatre’s 75th anniversary celebration netted them a record $1.9 million. The gala was themed “An Evening at the Starlight Room,” and saluted board member and executive committee member at-large Beth Madison. (PaperCity Magazine)
2. COVID-19 mitigation safety measures are being suspended for city of Houston employees. "With many taking advantage of widely available vaccines, booster shots and the robust COVID-19 testing, our country and more importantly, our community has moved into a new phase of this pandemic," Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said in the letter. 3. Bond has been set for the man accused of shooting his 16-year-old step-daughter to death Friday morning in their Humble-area home. 60-year-old Van Brisbon waived his court appearance overnight as a judge set his bond at $1 million on a murder charge. (KHOU 11)
4. Kabab Guys, a new Indian-Pakistani restaurant, is now open in Sugar Land. The restaurant opened in early April at 10581 S. Hwy. 6, Sugar Land, the owner confirmed with Community Impact Newspaper. (Community Impact Newspaper)
5. Houston Methodist is expanding care to the residents of Kingwood, Atascocita, Humble and the surrounding areas with the recent opening of Houston Methodist Comprehensive Care Center in Kings Harbor. Services at the center include primary care, orthopedics and sports medicine, physical therapy, and more.(Patch)

- The Floor & Decor is coming to 26906 I-45 North. Oak Ridge North announced a May 5 grand opening date. (Community Impact Newspaper)
- Texas grocer H-E-B issued a voluntary recall this week of products containing the company's two-bite brownies after it learned the product may contain metal fragments. (San Antonio Patch)
