1. Non-profit organization Texas Litter Control will celebrate its one-year anniversary of its Humble location on Wednesday, May 4. It is located at 19333 Hwy. 59 N., Ste. 230. It offers low-cost veterinary services, including spaying, neutering, general exams, vaccinations and heartworm prevention. (Community Impact News)
2. A movie on the tragedy at Astroworld is set for release despite lawyers' concerns. The film highlights what concertgoers experienced and what led to the tragedy. It also has cellphone video shot by concertgoers in which people can be heard repeatedly screaming for help. (KHOU 11)
3. A suspect has been arrested after a man was shot multiple times in a carjacking outside a gas station on FM-1960 in North Harris County, according to deputies. Harris County sheriff's deputies said the shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the 7-Eleven near Gatewick. (ABC 13)
4. Freebirds World Burrito has announced an opening date of May 9 for its new location in Kingwood, according to an April 26 news release. The restaurant, planned at 3112 W. Lake Houston Parkway, was originally planned to open in September 2021. (Community Impact News)
5. A Shadow Creek High School teacher has resigned after being accused of having an improper relationship with a student, according to Alvin Independent School District. Jail records show that JoAnn Karel was arrested Wednesday by the Alvin ISD Police Department and charged with improper relationship between educator and student. (Click2Houston)
