1. Democrat Beto O'Rourke, who is challenging Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in the governor's race, was among the protestors present at the NRA Convention. He sounded off a list of previous school shootings and called on those attending the convention to "join us to make sure that this no longer happens in this country." (Houston Patch)

2. Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz was confronted and lambasted by an activist about the Uvalde school shooting on Friday following his speech at the National Rifle Association Convention in Houston. The incident with Cruz reportedly happened at Uptown Sushi in Houston that evening. The video of the incident has gone viral. (Chron.com)

3. Federal, county and city leaders gathered at Brays Bayou Park on Thursday, May 26 to celebrate the completion of Project Brays, a plan to reduce flooding along Brays Bayou that has been underway for nearly 35 years. Construction on Project Brays began in 1993 at Arthur Storey Park. (Community Impact News)

4. Lagoonfest Texas has returned for its third year this Memorial Day weekend with crystal-blue water, white beaches, and the local favorite "aquabanas." Ticket options include a day pass for $22 and introductory Lagoon Passes, which offer unlimited admission through the end of October for $69. (CultureMap Houston)

5. The Heights MKT Bridge reopened Friday morning, after two rounds of repair work, reconnecting the MKT Trail to the White Oak Bayou Greenway. Residents came to celebrate its reopening and the expansion of the city's bike network. (The Leader)

  • Authorities need help from the public finding an 81-year-old man last seen Friday at his home in southeast Houston. Allan Arcemont is a white man, 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighs 200 pounds. He is bald and has a fair complexion. (KHOU 11)
