What inspired you to create the wylde concept and to mix it with traditional tunes and songs?
No one else was hearing the songs the same way as I did in my head. I felt a strong desire to share those imagings along with a passion to share my enjoyment of performing with others, and to form a group with a focus on harmony.
What makes Houston a special place to bring your unique blend of music and humor?
Houston is just an eclectic place! So many cultures exist here side by side. All are welcome. It's been a welcoming and embracing experience!
What's been your favorite performance so far?
Oh, there's been so many! Performing at the Houston Zoo with the giraffes and their big eyes watching us was so beautiful! Being at the Elisa in Galveston on a gorgeous day! Or being in a cozy coffee shop. It's impossible to choose just one.
What do you see as the biggest challenge when it comes to creating your mashes?
Helping others hear the blends the way I do in order to get them on board. Getting other band members to feel brave enough to try. But once they start to hear it, they start to hear others of their own and bring them to the group. It's great fun!
What has been the most rewarding aspect of being part of the Wylde Accord?
There's nothing like getting to sing with people you love to people you love! And you meet more and more people in the folk community who love sharing the same. So it's the people both in the band and in the audience that bring the best rewards. Sharing smiles and blending harmony. Feeling that human connection. It's bliss!
