Comida Food Drive Distribution Happens Saturday
HPD Chief Art Acevedo and volunteers will distribute 3500 boxes of food to area churches to help needy families.

HOUSTON, TX — The result of the 33rd Annual Comida Food Drive will be seen Saturday morning when Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo, HPD officers and numerous volunteers distribute boxes of collected during the food drive.
The distribution will be at the Pepsi Bottling Plant at 9300 La Porte Freeway. From 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. volunteers, will distribute boxed food collected during this year's to area churches that preregistered to participate in the program.
Fiesta Mart stores all over the Houston area collected non-perishable food, and monetary donations were accepted through the Houston Police Foundation for two weeks.

This has enabled HPD to provide more than 3500 boxes of food to needy families this holiday season.
Special thanks goes to Fiesta Mart, the Pepsi Bottling Group, the Houston Citizens' Police Academy Alumni Association, the Police and Clergy Alliance and the Houston Police Foundation, Acevedo said.

The churches preregistered to receive the boxes of food also provided volunteers and many man hours to make this operation possible. The churches then take the boxes of food back to their communities and distribute them to their neighbors in need.
