The teens told deputies they were frightened because the driver, a man in his 20s, flashed a semi-automatic handgun at them while he was chasing them.
When the teens ran through the light and smashed into Zavala’s pickup, the driver who was chasing the boys kept driving, investigators said.
Police have identified the car and the driver, and plan to interview him, police said.
