Election Day Runoff: A Prelude To The November Election

The runoff election is today and voters will cast ballots in several key races including the Governor's race.

HOUSTON, TX — It’s primary runoff election day in Texas, and voters will cast ballots in key elections that will be a prelude to the general election in November.

Races range from the Democratic nomination for governor to U.S. House contests and runoffs for both chambers of the Texas Legislature, and some of them are pretty hot.

The races began to take shape in the aftermath of the March 6 primary.

The in the governor’s race is among the key statewide races, where Republican Gov. Greg Abbott will learn if he will face off against Democratic Andrew White or Lupe Valdez on Nov. 6.

District 2 - Republican

Senate District 17 - Democrat

There are also a number of hot local races in Harris County and in Montgomery County, where two incumbent county commissioners face challenges.

In Precinct 2, Republican incumbent Charlie Riley is challenged by former Comal County Commissioner Greg Parker, while in Precinct 4 Republican incumbent Jim Clark is challenged by James Metts for his seat.

The commissioners court in Mlontgomery County is already seeing changes with County Judge Craig Doyal losing his re-election bid to former State Rep Mark Keough in the March primary.

The polls close at 7 p.m. statewide.
