'I've Been Going To Her For Years': Texas Woman Blasts Houston Salon. It’s Not Just Her
"I haven't seen people come together like this against a business in a while."
A Texas woman joined in on the internet firestorm surrounding a Houston nail salon by recommending an alternative. Here’s what’s going on.
TikTok creator Jocelyn (@jocccc_10270) posted a video about the nail shop recently and it has already accumulated more than 250,000 views.
In the video, she says, “So I heard we’re officially cancelling Milano Nails. That expensive, expensive nail place. Since that place is getting canceled, I wanted to share the nail place I’ve been going to for about six months. They are so good. They are in Friendswood, which is about 20-25 minutes away from the city of Houston.”

The new place Jocelyn is going is called C&C Nails Spa in Pearland. Although it might be a bit of a drive for those who live closer to downtown Houston, Jocelyn says it’s worth it.
“I normally get builder gel, and I just got them done right now,” she says, showing off her hands. “Aren’t they so cute? At Milano, these would be easily $150. Guess how much? $68. They're so affordable. And they’re so personable. I like to go with Ava, and I just book her online. It’s Christmas, and look what they gave me. How sweet. They all know my name. I love it. I’m over the big Milano nail salon places.”

What’s Going on with Houston’s Milano Nail Spa Online?
Milano Nail Spa is one of the largest nail salon chains in the country with more than half a dozen locations in the Houston area. It is owned by Vietnamese American entrepreneur Tom Tran, who also owns Nails of America.
The Milano Heights location boasts 100 spa chairs, 150 technicians, 50 nail stations, and 20 receptionists. When it comes to price, a gel builder full set is listed at $75. However, the shop charges for additional services like longer length ($5-$100), nail art designs ($10+ for every two nails), and special shapes ($5).
It’s unclear what sparked the online discontent with the chain, which maintains high review averages on Google for all of its locations, but there are a series of social media posts across platforms from unhappy customers.
In one Lemon8 post, a woman complained that she was charged a “length” fee for her natural nails. A second woman posted to TikTok saying “Milano Nail Spa in HTX finally getting cancelled is the best Christmas gift.”
In a Threads post to RecessionIndicator, user @courthousecouture wrote, “The way people are trying to take down Milano Nail Spa Heights location in Houston for their exorbitant prices should be studied. I haven’t seen people come together like this against a business in a while.” The creator also discusses what she views as a phenomenon in a TikTok video.
In the thread, several users defended the chain. “I like Milano,” wrote one woman. I think people are frustrated with their own budgets, but that’s just my opinion. I’ve been going there since it opened and went to two other locations before that.”
‘Oh my God, I love Ava’
In the comments section, viewers weighed in on Joceyln’s recommendation and Milano Nail Spa.
“Here for the Milano Nail Spa hate,” wrote one viewer. “Stayed for your hair and story.”
“Oh my god, I love Ava,” wrote a second viewer. “I’ve been going to her for three years.”
“I was paying $150 for nails and does at Posh and I love them, but that’s so much now that I’m a stay at home mom,” said a third person. “I just got $9 press ons to have on for Christmas. Might have to check out the place you mentioned.”
