Houston Announces Unified MLK Day Parade, Parade Marshals
Houston will host a single MLK Day Parade with Astros outfielder George Springer and U.S. Rep. John Lewis serving as grand marshals.

HOUSTON, TX — A new partnership between the City of Houston and the Black Heritage Society will ensure that Houston will have a single MLK parade instead of several dueling parades. On Monday, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner announced the partnership of a single parade, as well as the grand marshal’s for this year’s MLK Parade honoring the fallen civil rights leader.
Houston Astros center fielder George Springer and U.S. Rep. John Lewis, D-Georgia, will serve as grand marshals for the 41st annual Original MLK Day Parade that will be held on Jan. 21.
