Houston Botanic Garden Celebrates National Public Gardens Week
Houston Botanic Garden will host a family-friendly event celebrating National Public Gardens Week on Tuesday.
HOUSTON — The Houston Botanic Garden invites all Houstonians to take part in the National Public Gardens Week festivities with its free Community Social happening this Tuesday.The event will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Garden, located at 8205 North Bayou Drive.
The family-friendly event will have engaging activities for children, including a vegetable identification game and a plant relay race. Houston Audubon will be onsite with a live owl to talk about the magnificent world of birds and the critical role they play in the life cycle of plants.
Families will get the opportunity to learn why botanic gardens are important and hear the latest updates on the Garden’s progress.

A tour of the tree farm will be available with an educational demonstration about how the community can grow their very own citrus trees in their own backyard.
To kick start their own gardens, attendees will have the opportunity to take the “Grow it Forward” pledge and take home their own citrus tree (while supplies last).

By taking the pledge, attendees will commit to maintaining the citrus tree, and “Grow it Forward” by sharing the fruit it produces with friends and neighbors.
