Cycling Gunman Likely Targeted Houston Doctor: Police
Dr. Mark Hausknecht's assailant likely targeted the cardiologist in the attack last week, said Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo.

HOUSTON, TX – Police believe that a Houston Methodist Hospital cardiologist, who was gunned down in broad daylight while riding his bicycle last week, was likely targeted by his killer, said Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said Thursday.
Dr. Mark Hausknecht, 65, was riding his bicycle in the 6600 block of Main Street on the morning of July 20 when a gunman on a bicycle rode past and shot him to death. According to officials from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, Hausknecht was shot three time by his assailant.
In a message posted on the Houston Police Department Twitter page, Acevedo said there was a high probability that Hausknecht was targeted. Acevedo declined to provide any more information on the shooting.
