Houston Man Charged With Armed Robbery

John Michael Medina, 20, was arrested Sunday after he allegedly robbed two men at gunpoint in northeast Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A Houston man accused of robbing two people at gunpoint on Sunday was arrested and is being held in the Harris County Jail.

Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes unit have filed 2 counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon on a 20-year-old John Michael Medina.

Investigators said that Medina is responsible for at least four aggravated robberies in northeast Harris county that happened on May 20.

According to investigators, Medina pointed a shotgun at a man as he was getting out of his vehicle in the 10800 block of Airline Drive, and demanded his wallet and jewelry.

The victim was able to give a good description of Medina’s clothing and his gray colored four door sedan he was driving.

A short time later, Medina allegedly robbed another man in the 10700 block of the North Freeway, and as in the first instance.

The victim told investigators he was walking to his vehicle from a local electronics store and was approached by Medina, who pointed a shotgun at him and demanded his wallet and cell phone.

The second victim's description of Medina’s clothing matched that of the first robbery victim.

Investigators said the second victim also was able to provide the license plate of the gray colored sedan that Medina was driving.

Investigators and HCSO District 2 patrol deputies went to Medina's home in the 700 block of Corvette Ct., were they found the car used during the robberies.

Medina was found sitting in another vehicle in the driveway of the residence.

During a search of the suspects’ vehicle, several items belonging to various victims were found, including a wallet and a distinctive gold necklace that one of the victim's was wearing.

The shotgun used was also found.

Investigators are interviewing other victims that Medina robbed, and will be presenting their cases to the District Attorney’s Office for additional charges.

He is currently being held in the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Detention facility on a $100,000 bond.
