Here are the top five stories in Houston today:

1. Houston Police Chief Troy Finner and the the family of a man shot by police, Jalen Randle, are disputing how he died with the family claiming he was shot in the back. However, an autopsy report that FOX 26 received on Wednesday from medical examiners says the deceased was shot in the neck from the "front to the back." (ABC 13, Fox 26)

2. The Houston Texans signed free agent wide receiver Chad Beebe on Wednesday. The development comes a day after DaeSean Hamilton was carted off the field after injuring his right knee. (Subscription: Houston Chronicle)

3. City of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner withdrew a proposal to designate Riverside Terrace in Houston’s Third Ward a historic district. Turner said it did not meet the majority or 67% of the support required to proceed. (Click2Houston)

4. Houston cocktail bar Julep has made it to number 46 on the list of 50 Best Bars in North America, which is published by World's 50 Best Restaurants organizer William Reed. Julep is the only bar in Texas and one of just two in the South to make the list. (CultureMap Houston)

5. Houston City Council has approved an ordinance that increases the property tax exemption from $160,000 to $260,000 for city residents, who are age 65 or older and certain residents with disabilities. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner says the ordinance will help keep the city affordable for those who qualify. (Community Impact News)
