Feeding The Furloughed: Houston Restaurants Step Up To Help

As the government shutdown continues, several area restaurants have stepped up to help those furloughed workers with free meals.

HOUSTON — Federal employees in the Houston area are feeling the financial pinch as the partial government shutdown continues with no end in sight, and several Houston area restaurants are doing their part to ensure furloughed employees, and in some cases their pets, don't go hungry.

Nearly a dozen Houston area restaurants are offering to feed those furloughed employees a free lunch or dinner on certain days, or each day during the duration of the partial shut down.

One of the most prominent Houston area eateries step[ping up to help is Killen's Barbecue in Pearland, which posted their offer to furloughed employees on Tuesday.
